How to Prepare Frozen Masa

  • Thaw naturally in the refrigerator the day before use.
  • After thawing, the masa will have a crumbly texture. Gradually add warm water in 10 ml increments and knead for at least 15 minutes, until the dough comes together and reaches a smooth, workable consistency.
  • As a general guideline, the total amount of warm water needed is approximately 50–80 ml.
  • If the dough becomes too wet, allow it to air-dry naturally or microwave it in 30-second intervals to adjust the moisture content.
